Any ideas how to switch the wifi button on and get it to stay on? Stayed in a travel Lodge and didn't use any wifi or net connection, today home and cannot access my gmail account, messages will not update. Wifi button is off, but when I change to on in settings, it does not stay as on. I am however able to connect to Facebook and other Internet sites?.

Hi terina-usually when a app goes funky like that, in your case you email try to force it to close. You can do this by hitting the home button twice to bring up your multi-task bar. This will show all the apps that you have visited. By lon pressing the app in question until it jiggles than press the red circle with the negative sign. It will only quit the app and not delete. Than try to re-open the app and test out.
If that doesn't work, restart the iPad by pressing the power switch down to power off. Third is to do a reset by holding the power switch and home button together until you see the apple logo. Hope that helps!
Since your wifi works and allows you to facebook and use Internet, your email app may be the culprit.
