You could do worse than buying an 'Apple Airport Express' and connect it to your current Hi-Fi.

This is a wireless option(Airplay), with great sound quality.

The airport express has a 3.5mm audio out. The socket also doubles as a digital output, so you can connect it to an external DAC if you want to (the best option for high quality FLAC files). The link is of high quality, better then bluetooth.

It's not cheap (RRP £79 in the UK), however it's also a decent dual-band 802.11n wireless router, that can also extend the range of your wireless network etc. You do not need iTunes to make it work, there is a direct(airplay) connection between the iPad and the Express.

There are stand-alone airplay compatible HiFi systems. The Marantz NR1403 & NR1603, do look nice, but clock in at ~£400 and you have to buy speakers.

Hi How do you set up direct from ipad to air play ? i can do it with one but ive bought two airport express units and i can get one or the other to work but not both.

However if you go on itunes with a PC you can use both together.
