Why was pic editing left out of ios 5 on ipad?

It seems very limiting that I can edit pics in the photos app on my iphone (with ios 5) and not on my ipad.

What is the reaoning for this? I have left feedback for apple on this issue.

The iPhone has a fairly high-resolution camera and so picture editing was considered a priority. On the iPad, the camera resolution is (purposely) low - the camera was for video conferencing or HD video - and it wasn't considered that people would want to edit photos there. However, there are several apps - free -> Adobe have one, paid for -> Filter Storm is considered the most comprehensive....

I understand the camera on the ipad 2 is lacking. But, I do have pics on my ipad and it would have been nice if apple had included photo editing in the photo app.

I do have 3rd party apps that can do this, but it still seems lacking on apple's part to make one version for the iphone and make a version for the ipad that lacks the features found on the ipad. It would be nice if it was just built into the app.

Do you mean there is a specific function of the editing that's missing on iPad? OR, the whole Edit mode is missing? I hope we can at least rotate!

I think the the OP is talking about the ability to edit photos. Cropping and adjusting the image, that sort of thing. There are so many excellent photo apps available ranging in price from free to $5 or so that I'm happy to buy a photo editing app from a specialist company rather than use some generic app from Apple.

No rotation :(

the whole edit mode is missing :(

This is a huge oversight. If the photos I take on my iPhone are delivered to my iPad via photostream, id want the same capability!

And, yes, how I got here is I needed to rotate an ipad screen snapshot.

Fortunately, it must be trivial to activate the code to get it to work on the iPad & trust we'll get it in a future release!

Hi,

Assuming you mean the rotate, enhance, red eye and crop buttons my ipad2 has them.

I thought we was going to be able to move a photo from one folder into a different folder on this update but we cannot can we, unless I'm missing it?

Yes. Request an enhancement at Apples website... Be sure to tell them what you want to do on the other end of the sync though....
