Who else uses their iPad Pro as a laptop/desktop replacement?

Been using my iPad Pro as my mobile replacement for my MBP since Nov. 2021. I sold my MBP and never looked back. My iPad Pro was plenty enough for my Real Estate and Property Management work, so it was an easy decision. I love my iPad Pro for so many reasons because it can do so many things I need for my work that a traditional laptop just can’t do, or at least do easily as the iPP. My workflow and entertainment are just so much easier and fun on my iPP. Recently because of iPad OS 26, I have been using my iPP more and more as my desktop replacement also. The iPP does 99% of what I need from a traditional laptop/desktop computer, so now all my Mac Mini and Mini PC get used for are storage servers. Everything else is now on my iPP. If you look in my signature, you’ll see a link to why my iPP has replaced my Mac and PC. Anyone else using their iPP as a laptop or desktop replacement? I would like to hear why and how it works out for you.

I use my iPad Pro for most things, including more traditional desktop tasks.

I use my M1 MacBook Air for a few things that the iPad does poorly, or not at all.

Not all web tools work well in Safari on the iPad. For instance, I need to do some work on a Squrespace website. The iPad does not work well with thier tools. I prefer to use Word on my laptop. Not because I can't on the iPad, but because I hate the laptop version a little less than the desktop one. I prefer using Google's apps on the laptop. The apps on the iPad are limited, and for some stupid reason you haven't have the Google apps installed and use the web versions at the same time. All attempts to go to the web get redirected to the apps.

Still, that only results an hour or less of use per week, on average.

I also have a Windows laptop. This is for my Amateur Radio software. There is very little available on MacOS, and even less for iPadOS.

All in all, I'd estimate I spend 90% or more of my compute time on the iPad Pro and iPad Mini.

I use my iPad Pro with a Magic Keyboard for some desktop tasks, but for serious work I go to my MacBook Pro. Files can’t complete with Finder and Pages, Numbers, etc are far more complete on Mac OS.

I largely stopped using a desktop machine many years ago for general use. Drawing and image editing are the exceptions requiring my iMac. I have recently been contemplating getting a MacBook Neo though.

Thanks for everyone’s replies. I realize everybody has different needs and workflows, and that the iPad cannot be everything for all people. Some can, some can’t, and some are somewhere in between. I have loved iPads since the very first iPad, and knew it would become something important and very useful in my Apple ecosystem. I just get iPadOS, which has become pretty much my favorite OS. I love it for both work and play, and consider myself lucky to be able to use what I consider Apple’s most flexible and versatile device they have ever produced.

I have always, like Steve Jobs, been all about simplicity…and being able to use my iPad Pro for everything work and play, keeps it very simple for me. I do look forward to the iPad becoming more and more that one device that covers it all. To be honest, I would like to see the same thing happen to the iPhone. IMHO If you could just pop the iPhone in a hub on your desk for use with external monitor, keyboard and Magic Trackpad…that would be the bomb. After all, smart phones are the most carried and used computing devices in the world.

Anyway, we’ve seen our iPads and iPhones come a long, long way. Heck, you can even have a normal conversation with all our computing devices now. As a hardcore Trekkie, this is all very exciting stuff to me.

Not me, I do love my iPad Pro but it doesn't do everything I need, my MacBook Air Is brilliant and I do most things on it, my iPad Pro Is great to use in bed, easy to hold and good for searches, chatting, playing Scrabble ect but not as my everyday device .....
