Donating Platelets at the blood donor clinic.

Ugh. Bad flashback. I have narrow veins and the last time I donated, they burst one of my veins. My arm was sore and bruised for awhile. When I left the donor center to drive home, my arm hurt so much that I couldn't unlock the steering wheel because my car was tight against a hilly incline. I had to ask a guy who was walking by to unlock the steering wheel for me.

Very noble thing to do Sci! ;)

Kay......you poor thing! Gosh all that when you were just trying to help! I'm glad that guy helped you too. ;)

I've been donating since 1975 and today was my 516th donation.

Wow Sci.....that's just brilliant......your blood must have done so much good.....gosh just think how far it's spread.

Do you get badges for certain milestones over there.....badges are given out here for say the 10th, 25th donation etc.

Certainly. I've got certificates for 35, 50, 75, and 100 donations. I received plaques for 200 and 300 donations and a framed certificate at 400 donations. I've also got several sets of pins for the different donation levels.
Here's a photo of the certificate I received for my 100th Donation. It was signed by the Governor General of Canada.

I'm really impressed Sci.......I'm so glad that they do recognize your donations and continue to do so.

You are to be commended for taking the time that you do for this.

That is a great service which you provide, Scifan. Many congratulations.

I'm afraid I cannot give blood. The first time I tried, it proved painful and upset my psyche. Yet, I'm not a squeamish person.

Amazing. That's a real public service.

If anyone is thinking about donating, the holidays are a great time. There's usually a blood shortage because people get so busy, but the need for blood remains.

Judging by the tread patterns it looks like you're sharing the road with tracked vehicles?
