My iBook G3 Clamshell from 1999. I’ve spent a good part of the last two days wiping the hard drive and reinstalling the operating system and various updates. The hard drive is only 6gb, which was adequate for the time.
It was introduced at a price of $1,599.00, which was cheap for a laptop at the time.

Here’s what’s under the keyboard. The card with the white label and barcodes is the AirPort card which enabled 802.11b WiFi for up to 11mbps data transfer speeds. This card was an optional extra at a cost of $99.00.
Under the perforated metal shield at the bottom of the photo is the hard drive. Unfortunately replacement of this hard drive requires an almost complete disassembly of the computer.

I had a tangerine one. Loved it, though it did get an occational odd look from people; especially if they caught me carying it by it’s handle.
It was the only Apple laptop with a carrying handle.
Did yours have the 3 or 6gb hard drive?.
I’ve owned mine since Friday.

I had a Mac Plus, which I used with a 20 Mb drive, (- that is not a typing error. 20Mb!) and I still have my 7500, which I need to power up soon to extract some old files (very old!)

I sold my first Mac, an LC II, but still have the 6100, the B/W G3, and 5 iMacs (3 of which are in daily use).

Running Photoshop on the LC required patience; it took a couple of minutes just to boot System 7, another minute to launch PS, and loading a large TIFF scan meant taking a coffee break. With the box maxed out at 12 MB, there was much swapping to and from the hard disk.
