Was in Sunny croatia, the only Way i could use my iPad was with a towel over my Head! :))

Since the screen is polarized in when it is held vertically, turn it sideways, wear polarized sunglasses to reduce glare and it should be much better. It worked for me, anyway, once I noticed the screen was polarized. Once sideways, the direction of the light being emitted should be the same as your polarized glasses and 90 degrees from the reflected sunlight. I thought Apple was very clever with this particular feature and was surprised it did not make it to better attention sooner.

I triple click the home button.

It creates a negative image of what you are reading and makes outdoor reading simple.

To undo triple click again and screen goes back to normal.

In order to set up the triple click go to settings/general/accessibility/triple click home/toggle white on black

It works great for me ! Good luck !

Polarized sunglasses do help. They can improve contrast and reduce reflections, and may make the difference between readability and rubbish...but don't expect a miracle. And forget about using iPhone apps in portrait mode.
