Trying to close apps on the Ipad cannot get the apps to "dance"

Hi, welcome to iPF!

If your software is up to date, the icons won't start dancing.
In iOS 7, you double tap the Home button, and then swipe the pictures (thumbnails) above the app icons towards the top of the screen, to close apps.
