transfer apps from old apple ID to new one?

Came across a method elsewhere but couldn't get it to work...involved changing the email address on my new ID to something forgettable/forgotten, so that I could then use it with the old ID....

Any ideas very much appreciated...

My equivalent page has the two entries as one, with no edit option...
