If you are in the USA or Canada, you can use Text+ which is free.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work anywhere else.

You can also use WhatsApp. This is available in the US and UK App Store, but inexplicably, not the Canadian one.

Welcome top the forum. I suggest Text + also. It is the most reliable at getting your texts to and from in a timely manner and the sweetest part is it'll sync to your other devices, ios or Android, in real time so you can start a conversation on 1 device and continue on another. Others I've tried only allow 1 device connected to the server at a time. Text + does not have that limitation.
