Syncing a folder in desktop/laptop to iPad using wifi

Hi,

I'm a new to iPad development. What I need to create is an application which sync a particular folder in my PC/laptop to the iPad using a wifi connection.
Please advice me, what all things I have to do.

Download dropbox, it does it quite well and the first couple gigs are free.
