Synching with a new computer

I have a brand new computer Toshiba , Windows 8. When I tried to sync it with iPad I got the message "ITunes could not back up the iPad "Susan's iPad" because a session could not be started with the iPad". Help!

Hi Susan and welcome. Have you ”authorized" your new computer in iTunes? If not iTunes will ignore it.
