Adonit has been founded in 2010 with a Kickstarter campaign, a company which is focused on providing consumer electronics and software, including capacitive styluses and related SDKs mainly for the iPad. Now the company is releasing its first app for iPad users - Forge.

Described as a 'digital workspace for visual thinking', the free app can be viewed as a visual brainstorming tool that can help designers in their projects. Albeit it's specifically designed to work with Adonit's pressure-sensitive Jot Touch stylus, it will work with any generic stylus and even your fingers, as a matter of fact.

Speaking to TNW, Peiter Buick, Adonit’s chief design officer, said the following:

"Forge is a space to work like visual thinkers do. t’s a place where you can pull an inspiration, push an idea forward through multiple iterations and drafts, quickly move from one sketch to the next and pull back to look at the bigger picture.”

Here are the main features of the app:

BUILD YOUR IDEAS

Work like visual thinkers do: Pull in inspiration images, put your ideas on paper, and push them forward.

EACH NEW IDEA IS A SWIPE AWAY

Flow quickly from one draft to the next. Make mistakes and try again. It’s not about perfection, it’s about productivity

KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR PROGRESS

Pinch out to see all your ideas side-by-side on the Project Wall. (Unlimited walls available for $3.99.) Sort ideas into collections. Jump right back to work when your next idea comes

FOCUSED, FAST, AND FLUID

Pen to paper, paper to wall, and back again. That’s the workflow. So you stay moving, and your ideas stay with you.
