Still no iMessage

It has been a while since last iOS update but I am still unable to reconnect to iMessage on my iPhone 4 I have tried various suggestions note that iMessage is functioning on my ipad and I using the same network for both

Try logging out of iMessage and FaceTime on ALL devices, then back in again. Make sure both are turned on before you log in again.

I was asked about this a while ago, and it appeared that iMessage/FaceTime on another device was causing the problem. No idea why, but the advice given seemed to work.
