Sound problem with games

I have an ipad air with ios 8.3
I get sound when watching you tube vids but when I play games I get no sound at all. I've checked the sound settings for apps on the ipad itself and in the games. All are configured to allow sound. Any help most appreciated thanks[emoji4]

If it's the Air, first generation, look at the side switch. It's possible that you muted sound for games. If the coloured part is visible, toggle the switch to the other side, to un-mute your device. While sound will work for YouTube, some of the games can be muted with the side switch.
