Security?

We have McAfee Total Protection on our desktop at home. We recently purchased an iPad Air and we are wondering if we need security protection on it. Do you all have any recommendations for this.

There are no anti virus programs for iOS devices as they are not needed. Due to the sandboxed nature of apps in iOS devices, there have not, as yet, been any viruses that can infect an iOS device. Such a virus, if it existed, would have to be designed specifically for the individual device it was intended to infect. This would require that the person creating the virus have hands on access to the device in question.

Thanks for the info, so what you are saying is we do not need to worry about protection for the iPad Air. Would the same apply to an Apple Desktop computer also?

For the most part, yes. OS X has built in protection against viruses and malware which is quite effective if you follow Apple's recommendations about safe downloading practices. This thread provides a fuller explanation. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5559978?tstart=0
