Tech Crunch writes that massively successful food ordering apps Grubhub and Seamless have just added support for Apple Pay. This is actually quite a coup for Apple Pay, as the Grubhub company raked in $2.4 billion in food sales in 2015, with 60 percent of that made up of mobile ordering.
The biggest way in which the addition of Apple Pay improves your experience using the apps is in making the overall process much faster and easier, of course.
Tech Crunch says that while it is too soon for any stats showing how much time has been shaved off Seamless and Grubhub by the addition of Apple Pay support, recent stats from Instacart, for example, show that checkout is now 58 percent quicker for those customers who use Apple Pay over other payment methods, with around 1 minute saved each time they use the app.
This latest news shows that Apple continues to make progress with its push to get Apple Pay accepted by more retailers, banks, and countries. The stats show that there are one million new iOS users using Apple Pay each week, and Apple Pay is processing five times the transaction volume than a year ago. And this is bound to increase the more people upgrade to new iPhones that have Apple Pay support.
