Safari search page not filling screen

IOS 8.4.1 on Ipad4 - My Safari search page no longer fills the screen and the font is now too tiny to read comfortably. - finger zoom not responding.

An actual web page does still fill the screen and responds to finger gesture zoom.

Anyone know how to fix this issue - thanks in advance for any replies.

I hope one of these will fix your problem:
In Settings - Safari, clear History and Website Data.

Force close the app: double tap the Home button to show the multitask bar, slide the thumbnail above the Safari app icon towards the top of the screen.

Restart your device: turn it off and on again.

Reset your iPad:
Press and hold Home and Power button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Let go of both buttons. Your iPad will power up on it's own.
