I just updated my iPad to iOS 5 and lost the "grid layout" in my safari to sort my tabs. Is there anyway to get this back?
Thanks

It's not possible unless you downgrade from iOS 5, and you need to have saved your shsh blobs to do that. Downgrading would take you back to an older OS entirely, not just let you restore the old view on Safari.

Why aren't more people talking about this. I am upset about this change.

There are existing threads about this.

In general, users seem to prefer tabs. If you don't like the change, best tell Apple.

FWIW there was an a LOT of fussing about Safari Mobile on the iPad using a thumbnail layout instead of tabs when the iPad was first released. That gave rise to all of the other tabbed browsers including iCab, Atomic, etc. Now that Apple's brought Safari Mobile in line with how the computer version of Safari browser works (as well as every other browser) there are folks unhappy about that. You certainly can't please all of the people all of the time.

Frankly if I were an app developer I'd be busy creating a thumbnail based browser that emulates the old Mobile Safari...but I suspect patents might get in the way. ;)

If your jailbroken there's an app in cydia called 'grid tab' that will solve your problem.
If you don't want to faf about though I'd suggest just getting used to the new tabs. I'm sure soon you will realise how much better ios5 safari is!

I upgraded my wife's Ipad 1, not even realizing what kind of mess it would cause. She can't stand the lack of thumbnail grid option for Safari. Also, it's been a dog overall. Noticeably slower. Since we don't have the SHSH blobs (unfortunately wasn't privy to that knowledge of needing these to downgrade), does anyone know if this Gridtabs option will work on the Ipad? Or is it just for the Iphones?

Thanks in advance! Love Apple devices, but really can't believe how difficult they make these user-friendly machines be when it comes to customizations.
