Safari, greyed out and cant shift it - Stuck

I have noticed the same problem of Safari 'graying out' just recently and I have had my iPad 2 since June. I usually solve it by exiting out of Safari and then closing out the app (by using the switcher bar and holding down the app until it wiggles and the 'x' until the app closes). Then I just go back into Safari and it seems to work again. It's only been happening for about a week.. Not really sure it's related to some other app misbehaving.
