Is there an app for recording FaceTime chats? Our son lives abroad and we FaceTime and I'd love to be able to record our chats, with video, to watch again. Thanks

Yes. Use QuickTime Player/New screen recording if you answer the call on your Mac.

You can record from iPhone or iPad onto QuickTime by touching the down arrow next to the record button and selecting the iDevice for recording. You need to select video and sound separately.

This does not work on Windows versions of QuickTime.

Thanks, I did try this but without success. Will have another look and see what I am doing wrong.

Thanks. Will have a look at this.

The cool thing about this is, every voice call or FaceTime call you answer on your Mac is automatically recorded. No need to do anything when you answer the call.

This is an older thread. The previous responces are correct for older versions of iOS, but iOS 11 has built in screen recording, including audio. It appears to work with FaceTime, but I have not tested it with an actual call.

First you have to add it to your Control Center in Settings > Control Center > Cutomise.

To use it, pull up the Control Center and tap the icon. You get a 3 second count down before recording starts. Tap and hold the icon in Control Center to toggle the microphone on/off.

The status bar turns red to let you know you are recording.

To stop, pull up the Control Center again and tap the record icon. Yes, all videos will end with the Control Center panel. You can edit it out easy enough later.

The videos are saved in the Photos app; where you can do some basic editing.

There may be local laws that restrict recording of conversations with others without their knowledge and/or permission.
