This Q got me to this forum in the 1st place - on iPhone 4s, which works better - Quickoffice or iWork apps for dropbox?

For that matter, when can we expect quickoffice support on iCloud?

Will the iWork apps be recognized by iCloud to open .docz & .pptx files?

The iWorks apps do not work directly with DropBox. It is possible to use the Open In feature in the DropBox app to open a file in an iWorks app, but it is not possible to save a file directly from iWorks to DropBox, at least not without a third service. There are two that I know of.

DropDAV works very well by providing a WebDAV interface for DropBox; however it requires a monthly fee.

mailtodropbox.com will let you send iWorks files to DropBox via a supplied email address. It is slow, and the attachment can only be copied to a special Attachment folder, but it is free.

Box.net is a decent alternative for iWorks, as it has free WebDAV support. However unlike DropBox you can not sync with a local folder on your computer; unless you pay for a business account. That means you must manage your files from a web browser on the computer. Or you can mount the WebDAV service to your computer, and it will behave like a (very slow) hard drive.

I'm not familiear with how well QuickOffice works with DropBox, though I understand it does. I'll leave that to someone else to supply the details.

Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

I am using Quickoffice. It works very well with Dropbox. I also chose it because QO handles .docx files both ways. Also opted against Pages because it does not work with landscape orientation.

Sent from my iPad 2 using iPF

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I'm trying to be sure Quick Office pro actually syncs with Dropbox before buying it. I've used and like Office HD from the beginning of Ipad but though it is integrated quite well with Dropbox it does not sync, either automatically or manually. I'm finding that is needed and want to purchase another app (and have a friend I help with Ipad who needs it more than I do). I had some correspondence with Office HD folks and they said they were planning to add synce but didn't say when and its been at least 6 months since I was told that so time to move on.

Additional question. If you make changes to a file offline will it sync to Dropbox via a button like Plain Text or automatically when online (wifi) next time?
