I recently purchased a Canom MG6250 which is supposed to be able to print through wifi from iPhone and iPad. Did I read somewhere that a software upgrade is required to the printer software? Does someone have knowledge and where to access the software upgrade and how to install it to the printer. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

I am a new user to this Forum. For background, I live in Sydney Australia, have an iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, an ipad1, a MacPro laptop and a Toshiba Satellite PC (6 years old). The 2 laptops print to the printer perfectly through the wifi.

Best regard,

Hi and welcome to the Forum from Brisbane

There is a Canon app for photo printing which is available and supports your printer series. Have a look at this and what it can print. Hopefully someone will chime in who knows more on your printer.

Hello,

I encountered a similar problem of printing from my iPhone to my Canon MG6250 using Airprint six months ago when I bought this printer. It wasn't until I read some posts in this forum today that I even considered a firmware update. I was surprised, as I am quite tech-savvy, but lo and behold it turned out that I was running version 1.xx when the latest firmware is version 3.020

Mind you the release from Canon is dated 27 April 2012... Anyway, long story short after extracting the firmware update executable (you must extract it first), connected my printer via USB cable, and ran the update... I CAN NOW PRINT! (If there was a rooftop nearby I would be shouting from it). I have only tested this on Windows and printed a photo using AirPrint on my iPhone 4.

It seems that I cannot post the links but if you search the Canon website or do a Google search for the following terms, you should find the firmware updates:
AirPrint & Google Cloud Print Firmware Updater (Windows) for MG6200 series Ver.2.2
AirPrint & Google Cloud Print Firmware Updater (Macintosh) for MG6200 series Ver.2.2

Cheers.

Hello, thanks for your input in this thread. As the original question was one and a half years ago, and had received answers, it is doubtful whether the OP would still be seeking further information after that time.
The thread is therefore closed. Thanks for your input and understanding.
