Photo's from laptop to ipad3

Can somebody please tell me how to transfer photo's from my laptop to ipad3, I have tried adding Picasa and other apps with frustrating success

Have you tried dragging them into iTunes then syncing? Another option is to use Dropbox, it's free for your iPad and laptop and will make your photos available to both.
