Ottorbox V Lifeproof .. which is the better option?

Hi, I am currently looking for a rugged case for our 2 iPads (2 & 4) which are kid and travel friendly, after reading too many reviews it would seem these two are the ones to choose from but I'm a bit wary of the Lifeproof having no screen protection and the Ottorbox having no water resistance.

Has anyone had experience with both? Can a screen protector be used with the Lifeproof case?

If you don't think you will drop it in the pond, the OtterBox may be the better choice. A friend took an iPad 2 out camping in the desert with the OtterBox and it did great. Protected the iPad, especially the screen, from dirt and grit flying around.
