Hi all,

Delighted to be joining this forum. I have been wanting the iPad 2 since I first heard about it and now I have finally made up my mind to get one. I do have a question, which I hope someone can help me answer. I will be buying an iPad to use both in the US and in India. Since I will be using it in India sometimes, should I favor either AT&T or Verizon when I buy the 3G iPad? I think India has both networks. But is there one particular network that works better or is more prevalent? If someone knows the answer and/or has used the iPad 2 3G in India, I would appreciate your feedback.

Thanks!

Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

Absolutely you need to get AT&T - the Verizon network uses the CDMA protocol that is not supported in India - or most other countries. Be sure to initialise your iPad in the US before you leave - buy a low-cost AT&T data plan and initialise - then your iPad will work fine in India when you get a local SIM card there. You might also want to invest in a 'SIM cutter' to cut a normal SIM down to microSIM size - the excess is just plastic - because microSIMs are not very widespread yet outside the US. Have fun - and please keep in touch..

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

If you don’t already have it you can download a copy of the iPad manual for free.
