New Ipad cellular

So I'm in the market for a new Ipad Air, I'm having a hard time deciding on a cellular carrier.
So as long as I purchase a cellular Ipad can I change to any of the different carriers by just getting the other carriers sim card ? or If I buy a Verizon or AT&T Ipad am I stuck with that carrier?

From what I've heard you can change carriers. There may be some minor cost involved and possible hassle but I believe you can do it. I've been very pleased with AT&T thus far on my iPad Air. Very fast, great coverage, and it love the non renewing $25 for 1GB over 3 months plan they have. I don't use much data so this plan was perfect for me.
