Navigation control?

Rather than buy a separate device, I'd like my iPad to double as my GPS device, but for weekend road trips I prefer to use state/county roads instead of interstates - is there a way to make Maps do this?

I can't help direct, but some notes follow. Thirty years ago a book called Blue Highways was written. They traveled 10k miles in USA mostly on the faint blue roads on state maps. Found lots of strange sites to visit, met lotta friendly folks.

Check TomTom and Garmin to see if either offer that feature.
Maybe an ipad app would do that ?

I think I'll go hunting to see what I can find in apps.

I used to bicycle all over jostle eastern USA on blue roads when possible. Lovely vacations.
