Native Notes saved where?

This may be more of a Mac book question than an iPad question.
When then Native Note app. Is backed up using iTunes, where is it saved to on the Mac? Can I see my notes there? Can I make notes on the Mac and put them on the iPad? What can I use to do this?
This may be a "duh" question, but I'd appreciate a little guidance. I don't do a whole lot of file managing on the computer.

Ok, never mind this question, after syncing the iPad, I see that notes has appeared in email. Intact and editable.
