I have uninstalled apps showing in the App Store which I have not downloaded. I want to delete them so that they no longer show. Is there a way?

Hi, welcome to iPF!
Apps you purchased, but are not installed on your device stay in your App Store - Purchased list. You can't remove them there. That's the way App Store works. If you want to install an app you purchased before, all you have to do is go to Purchased and download it without paying again.
