I always think anything published by Chillingo is worth an extra look because they've got such a good track record, so today’s announcement that Chillingo has released DarkWave Games’ Master of Alchemy HD to the iPad App Store definitely made me sit up and take notice, especially as it’s quite reasonably priced too, at $4.99/£2.99/€3.99. The game, which has been designed exclusively for the iPad, is a puzzler based on the manipulation of solid, liquid and gaseous elements. The challenge comes when the player must transform the elements using alchemy tools in order to make stunning discoveries. By utilizing a variety of instruments ranging from pipes and coils to blenders and hot air balloons, players can create new elements and substances to overcome obstacles and advance to new levels, of which there are over 60 in total.

The game uses a custom-developed engine with fully realistic particle physics and high-resolution Steampunk art-style graphics to let players experience that “old-world†feeling. Looks like quite an intricate puzzle game, check out the trailer above to see how it plays.
