I am sure this has been asked before. I bought a used Ipad for granddaughter. I want to load it with some of the apps and games I know she likes before I send it out of state to her. If I do this using my ITunes ID, thus linking it to my account, will she have problems setting up her own account when she gets it? I read somewhere about a ninety day restriction to transfer a Ipad from one account to another.
Also how will this temp association with her ipad effect my normal Ipad.

Thanks
Wingryder

Hi Wingryder - welcome to the forum! :) I'm not sure how old your grand daughter may be, but if young (e.g. < 10 y/o), I would suggest that you simply set the iPad back to factory settings and let her parents set it up for her using their own ID/PW - they may want to activate a number of 'parental controls' that are built into the iOS. You can always include an iTunes gift card. If you leave your ID on the device, then she would need to also know your PW to update apps and download new ones - might want to checkout this THREAD and its links - plenty of ID options discussed. Good luck - Dave

Thanks Dave, She is 12 but parental controls are a good idea. Looks like if I did download some apps her parents could still log me out and create a new id for her as JA stated in the link you provided.
That looks like the easy way to go with it.

thanks again

If you want to buy her some apps, you can always gift them to her. That way you pay for the app, but it shows up in the purchased history of the recipient and can be downloaded by the recipient at will.

Hi Wingryder - of course, this decision is completely up to you regardless of our comments. BUT for a 12 y/o and as a parent (my son is now 40 y/o & a IT specialist), I would definitely want parental controls on the device; plus, you may not know (or may?) what apps she would want so preloading some might not be to her preference (don't know) - again I would suggest just sending her the iPad factory set w/ an iTunes gift card; let her parents set it up w/ their Apple ID/PW (I'm assuming they have one?), and then help her to DL the apps she wants using your gift card - not much else for me to say - good luck and I'm sure she will love the gift! Dave :)
