The Elgato EyeTV is a toy that will allow you to stream your cable/satellite box to your iOS devices. To do this you will need the actual EyeTV(about $200) and the EyeTV App which is $4.99. After you have it all set up, you can watch your TV on the go from any of your iDevices that have the app installed. The app starts out a bit rough, but quality gets better as you wait and watch the glitchy start. You can flip through all of the channel that you can on your TV as well as record and schedule recordings for later viewing. While you are using the App, your Mac needs to be connected at home to the EyeTV box. So if you are someone who wants to get rid of their DVR, has a Mac computer at home that never leaves the house, and some extra cash to spend, it could be a good investment. The app doesn't work without the EyeTV box so don't think you can get away with just paying $4.99.

Honestly I think a slingbox and thier app is much better and you can watch your recorded shows and if you have a dvd in your dvd player you can watch that as well (depending on the slingbox model you have).
