[FONT=&quot]9to5 Mac reports today that LG Display’s CEO, Kwon Young-soo, has just dropped a massive hint to reporters in Korea that LG is making Retina Displays for the iPad 3. According to a report in the Korean Times, when asked by reporters yesterday about whether or not LG would be making OLED screens for smaller portable devices, Kwon Young-soo first said that OLED displays are not suitable for smartphones and tablets, “in terms of picture quality, response time, energy consumption and contrast ratios,†before adding that LG would, however, be making OLED displays for big screen TVs. He then went on to say that LG’s “Retina Display†has been used in iPhones and iPads. As 9to5 Mac notes, this would appear to bear out recent rumours about the next iPad having a significantly improved display. In fact only last week The Korean Times said that Apple was testing 2048-x-1536 displays made by Samsung and LG. Going by the LG CEO’s own reported words yesterday, this would appear to be accurate.
