ipad1 64 wifi 3g will not activate

No ideas except it's a hardware problem and go to the apple bar?
It does the restore but will not get past the activation stage.
Its an ipad1 and should'nt need a sim card.
It was working and playing movies fine when this activation problem first started.

Try your luck at ifixit.com but unfortunately I can't see what else it would be.

Genius Bar appointments at an Apple Store are free. They'll be able to tell you what's causing your problem. Unfortunately, given the age of the iPad 1, it won't likely be economical to repair if there is a hardware fault.
