iPad Wifi VS 3G

The new iPad will be announced tomorrow, and like many others, I'm ready to upgrade! The issue that I face is what size to get and wether or not go for the 3G version, or stick to the wifi only like my current iPad. Ive heard that the 3G version also has a gps chip, so even when not paying for service and outside of a wifi zone, you could still use a functional gps app to navigate.

Do you have or will you get the 3G version? Why or why not? What are the pros and con to having 3G? Do you regret getting or not getting 3G? Please, give your thoughts in general, I'd love to hear it.

Wifi + mobile broadband card is the way to go imo. 1) you save 130 up front ans 2) with the mbbc, you can connect 5 devices at a time instead of the one ipad.

I have a 64GB wifi gen 1 from May 2010. I used it with my husband's cell's mobile hot spot often when we traveled. In my small southern city we seem to have wifi everywhere including our DT square and surrounds. However, when I get out of this area sometimes wifi is harder to find and I use google maps (and will add GPS app to replace our Tom Tom), apps to find restaurants, lodging, places to visit, subway schedules, etc. We will give up the mobile hot spot in May (and its only 3G and I'm hoping for LTE) and one of our Ipads will be 3G.

As for size-I have a good amount of content on mine from lots in office apps, PDFs, books, and lots of photos (Im a photographer and clean out events often but have quite a number of albums/galleries in Photos and Photo Mgr Pro plus load new big raw files when I travel for backup. Ill buy as large ad Apple offers.

Just to clarify: you will need to activate 3G (or 4g on the new one) service when you want to use the GPS. That means paying ATT or Verizon for a month's activation when you travel. I find it a super useful service to have available, especially if you don't have or don't want to carry another device too like a mi-fi to get internet service when wifi isn't available.

Correction: the GPS works whether or not the wireless data is activated.

iam geting the wifi verison there is no way iam paying for a data plan iam cheap anyways wifi is much faster then 3g

That's the way I go too, I might think again if I needed GPS but for now I don't.
