iPad typing by itself, opening apps by itself

Ancient iPad Air 2 has begun typing by itself and opening apps by itself. Difficult to log in because it starts typing at the login screen, eventually causing enough errors to lock me out. If I do manage to log in various apps open by themselves. Browsers open infinite number of tabs until lockup. I've reset the iPad restoring it to it's factory only content and deeply cleaned the screen. Nothing has helped. Is it fixable or should I just forget it? I really like its light weight. Great for reading in bed. I have several othe iPads, including an original and a Series 10, all working fine. Of course the original is basically useless, but still boots up and connects to my network. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I would suggest a hard restart. Hold the Home and On/Off Buttons together until the screen goes black. Let go when the Apple logo appears.

On some older iPads, a bad/floating ground in the house wiring could cause random actions on the screen. If you've been using he iPad plugged in, try it on battery, or at another location. Preferable one with modern wiring.

Thanks for the reply. House wiring is perfect. Panle less than 5 years old. All sockets test correctly. iPad's problem is present on battery and mains. But again, thanks. I was not aware of the situation you mentioned.
