Ipad syncing slow

I don't have that much stuff on my Ipad, a few books, a few comics and now trying to sync two free tv shows (SD) and it's taking forever. What happens when you have a ton of stuff on?? It's already been like 15 minutes and it's not even 1/3 of the way done. Just keeps backing up. UGH!
