AppleInsider reports that according to RBC Capital Markets analyst Amit Daryanani, the imminent release of the iPad mini could push Apple’s total holiday sales of the iPad this year to more than 30 million. Daryanani told investors that he thinks that even without the iPad mini Apple can expect to shift around 21.6 million iPads in the December quarter. With the iPad mini, however, he says that Apple could rake in an 8-million-unit, $2-billion net benefit from total iPad sales in the holiday quarter of 29.6 million. This ties in with the report from The Wall Street Journal yesterday that said that Apple has already ordered 10 million iPad minis for the holiday quarter. Apple has yet to confirm release of the iPad mini, but it is widely expected to be holding a launch event on October 17. We may well know more tomorrow, which is when the invitations for the event are said to be going out.
