IPad locked up, Help!

I have had my new IPad 3rd Generation since March and it was working perfect. I had it on all day at my office, came home and opened it up to go on Facebook and got a box with the following message...

Cannot Verify Server Identity
my work email address
cannot verify the identity of
"by2prd0411.outlook.com". Would you like to continue
anyway?

Boxes below that with....
Cancel
Details
Continue

It won't do anything else. I try to turn it off and I get the box with "Slide to Unlock" but that doesn't work either! At the top of the screen is a padlock Icon, does that mean it is locked somehow?
Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Sounds like it has frozen, do a reset here and it should fix this. A reset in this case will not change anything and is akin to rebooting a PC.
Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start. Let us know how you go.
