ipad in car charger

hi all im thinking of useing my ipad 2 as a sat nav as my old nav is way out of date , do i need a special ipad in car charger from apple or will a aftermarket in car charger with usb port do the job

Technically, any old car charger will work. The only caveat is that you want to make sure of is that the charger is powerful enough to charge the iPad. It needs to put out 5.1v and 2.1A.

However, my recommendation is to make sure the product specifically states that it will charge the iPad. That way you can be sure it will charge the iPad.
