Hello,

I have about 42GB of photos I'd like to import to a 64GB ipad. If I check in Settings, i see there are about 50 GB free, so it should work. Problem is, I seem to have hit a 16GB cap for photos. Weird. I researched online, including Apple's official support forums, and, indeed, there seems to be a cap for photos. Something to do with loading all thumbnails into memory.

Anyway, is there a way to overcome this limitation? The threads I found dealing with the issue were from 2010/2011 so I hooe there's been changes regading this issue.

Fwiw, i upgraded to iOS 5.1.

Wow. That's a lot of photos.

You might be able to use a third party photo organizer to get around this. The more popular ones are PhotoSort and Photo Manager Pro. But I'd check the developer sites first, or contact them, and ask if they also have upper limits to their photo libraries.
