Ipad 1 adapter to tv

Hello. I have a jaikbroken ipad 1 and I really want to watch the movies off of movie box. I have brought a hdmi adapter and plugged it all in and it come up with its not supported on this device. But. I had it working for like a minute then the message came up and shut it off. Does anyone have a ipad 1 that they are watching movies from movie box on their TV? Please any her at all would be great. Am I doing it wrong?
