On my FB timeline today, several of many amazing places in the world had been ones we have visited, including Multnomah Falls in Oregon and Moraine Lake in Banff National Park (Alberta, Canada) - even canoed on the lake which was beautiful. Dave :)

I have an old picture of my mother standing in front of these falls. It was taken sometime in the 1940's when she and some cousins were visiting from Saskatchewan.

The falls are impressive - I walked up to the bridge (Susan decided not to), but I cannot find any old pics; however, I did locate a few from our Alberta trip (probably in the '80s sometime), i.e. Lake Louise & Moraine Lake - we canoed on both (plus a few others, as I recall) - Dave :)

New Musical Instrument in the house - a Banjo Ukulele

Susan is the musician & singer in our house - she has an upright family heirloom piano, several Irish harps, two guitars (nylon & steel stringed), a number of recorders, a ukulele, and now a banjo ukulele (and some that I've left off!).

She has been taking ukulele lessons from a UNC School of the Arts graduate and teacher w/ a master's degree in guitar (her uke shown below bought on our Knoxville trip); she wanted a banjo ukulele, not only for the sound but the instrument has just 4-strings tuned like her ukulele, so an easy transition. Below her w/ a new Deering banjo ukulele - apparently this American instrument company (LINK) specializes in regular banjos, some outrageously expensive - check the link, if interested. Dave :)

P.S. video added from the Deering website.

It's almost impossible to take an ugly photo on the Icefields Parkway, isn't it Dave?

Hi Lanny - beautiful pic and you are certainly right! :) On our trip to Alberta, we flew into Calgary, picked up a rental car and I drove all the way to Jasper - then enjoyed the sites along that highway w/ trips from Jasper and also on the way to Banff - believe that on the Columbia Icefield, we were on a huge bus-like vehicle w/ tank-thread wheels, but that was 30 years or so ago - I'm sure there have been many 'upgrades' in transportation since then; plus, wondering what impact global warming may have had? Dave
