They knew you were coming and wanted to impress you.I'm in Pörtschach for a few days. The people here are very nice. They even named a house and a path after me

When I was in San Antonio 3 years ago, the daytime high temperature was over 100°F for most of the time I was there.Scifan.. - below a map of today's USA temps - never saw SO MUCH red - we're 10º F above the usual 'warm' summer weather - looks like you are in the low 70s today - Susan & I should have planned a trip to Canada this summer - our last one to Quebec in August was delightful! .Four large exhibit buildings represent the remaining structures of the historic Spencer Shops, once Southern Railroad's largest steam locomotive repair facility on the east coast. Buildings include the Back Shop, the Master Mechanic's Office, the Flue Shop and the 37-stall Bob Julian Roundhouse. The museum is a source of education and fun for the young and old.
I've travelled from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Vancouver, British Columbia by train. The trip took 5 days, with a change of train in Montreal, Quebec.Susan & I love trains, and have enjoyed many train rides locally and elsewhere (best one for us in Alaska w/ a great meal) - BUT, for those who may be traveling through central North Carolina and enjoy trains (also cars, trucks, airplanes, etc.), then a visit to the North Carolina Transportation Museum is a consideration - about half way between our home in Winston-Salem & Charlotte, as shown on the map - brief paragraph from their website quoted below.
Historically, this location was the Spencer Shops which serviced trains, mainly steam locomotives on north-south routes along the east coast of the United States - an entire town was established for the workers and their families (i.e. Spencer) - a few added pics w/ several locomotives of many in the roundhouse - not to be missed if you are a 'train nut'!Dave
