No sunset photo today - it was raining.
Here's something completely different:
They're selling "handbags for men" in a supermarket in my district (content: 12 cans of beer):

We spent a week in DC and visited National Gallery, (along with Philips, African, Freer, and a few other art galleries), Smithsonian, Air & Space, Natural History, many monuments (went to the top of the Washington), National Book Festival, Jazz Nightclubs, and more. We got a last minute deal on travel and hotel that we couldn't pass up. I'll be posting pictures.......

This is the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird plane. Built as a replacement for the U-2 it is the fastest air breathing plane ever built. Two men in the cockpit, the rest is fuel. It's faster than anti-aircraft missiles - if one is launched, it just outruns it. Sustained speeds of over Mach 3.2. At 80,000 ft (24,000 m) the photos are good enough to measure the white lines in an automobile parking lot (the docent showed pictures - amazing). It was replaced by spy satellites in 1999. It is the first plane built with 'stealth' design. The function may be controversial, but I think the technology is amazing and the plane is beautiful. This was taken at the Smithsonian Air & Space annex at Dulles Airport.

Hi Bob - love all of those museums & monuments in D.C. - my first visit was in 1974 when I studied 'Radiologic Pathology' at the AFIP on the grounds of the Walter Reed Medical Center - lived there for nearly 3 months and took in a lot of the sights - been back many, many times!

The Washington Monument reopened for visitors last year after the 2011 earthquake - how did the repairs look? Dave :)

WASHINGTON — After 32 months, the Washington Monument is finally set to reopen after it suffered widespread damage in an August 2011 earthquake along the East Coast.

Since the 5.8 magnitude earthquake, the 130-year-old monument was covered in scaffolding to repair the more than 150 cracks in the 555-foot obelisk's white marble.

I once saw three of them parked on the Tarmac at Hickam Air Force Base at Pearl Harbor in 1984.

We're in the second week of spring which has well and truly sprung with a lovely 24c today.
Yesterday we decided to go to the Royal Adelaide Show held every second week in September. We hadn't been for three years.
Here are a few pics I snapped:

Through the entrance to the show grounds promising noise and a kaleidoscope of colour. There were a lot of people, I guess not having to work that day;)

All kinds of displays of produce, arts and crafts, cakes etc set out for judging. There are five large pavilions in the Wayville show grounds, including one dedicated to childrens' show bags.

In the side show and hurdie gurdie area there was no shortage of ghost trains and spooky haunted houses to terrify those tired of being terrified on the death-defying machines nearby.

These contraptions were for the most part not for the faint hearted. The screaming was incredible. Surely best to go on these before eating a hearty lunch:)

We enjoyed the animal pavilions with sheep, cattle, alpacas, pigs etc brought in for judging from all over the state. We always check out the pigs (including pig races), and the huge sows with incredible sized litters (but didn't linger in the pig pavilion too long:))

A highlight of any show visit is the wood chopping contests. Yesterday was part of an international competition between Australia (in green and gold) and New Zealand (black and white) in a series of medleys in chopping and sawing.
All up it was a very enjoyable day.
