Timbits refers to the Tim Hortons chain of coffee houses. They sponsor a Canada wide hockey program for young children. There are teams which play against each other. Every so often they give demos at intermission during hockey games.
It looks like the children in your picture are about the age that I'm teaching : 6 to 9 or 10. But the equipment could also give a wrong impression. Do you know their age?

The kids were at the lower end of the age range you teach. The youngest kids in the program haven't started school yet.

This is the same orchid as one week ago, this time it's a picture with my Canon:

Since last Sunday, two more blossoms opened, and more buds were showing.

Snowstorm that started only 10 minutes ago.

Edit: 20 minutes after this picture was taken the snow had stopped and the sky was blue again.

The storm lasted less than half an hour and there's no ice on the roads. Here's a shot taken just now from the same viewpoint.

He's doing a pretty good job.
Do the rabbits in Austria turn white in the winter? Here they're very easy to spot when the change is only half completed.
They don't really change here, just partially - at the sides of the head.

A while ago we had a small dead-end street running almost opposite to our house that was ripped up and resurfaced. We were away for two days and found this on return:

Then apparently it was decided that the street level could be improved so a day of large graders were on the job:

I didn't know they put plastic sheeting under any bitumen to be laid.

Then the kerbing levels had to be got right and the kerbing machines put into action. First time I've seen how kerbing is laid.

Then the bitumen laying machines and people got into action... And the new street was laid

Our street is a small dead end street, and this one opposite requiring all that activity is even a smaller one with only a few cars a day as traffic. It was originally in perfectly good condition.
Our council rates went up recently. It's good to see they were put to such good use:)

Nice pictures, Andrew. They did much the same to a street near my house 3 years ago.
Thanks sci...the thing that got to us as neighbours surrounding this activity was that larger roads nearby are in much worse condition and could have done with more urgent upgrade, yet they chose this very quiet out of the way street to spend heaps. Not many people will drive on it, but gee it's nice to drive on for all of its 250 metre length:)
