Susan & I attended a wedding in the Baltimore area a few days ago - went to Ft. McHenry, site of the British land and naval attempt in September 1814 (War of 1812) to take the city of Baltimore - the British were repulsed on land and Ft. McHenry could not be captured - Francis Scott Key was aboard a ship and saw the 15-star American flag still standing after the bombarment and wrote what became the USA national anthem, 'The Star Spangled Banner' - just a few pics of mine from our visit to the National Monument Fort - we are now in Washington, D.C. for 4 nights - will likely start a travelogue shortly of this trip. Susan and I are in Washington, D.C. for a post-wedding vacation (see my 'new' Baltimore-D.C. thread in the travel section) - visited the Newseum a few days ago and took the pic below from their observation deck, i.e. looking down Pennsylvania Ave to the US Capitol. Dave
