It doesn't take long for the first spring flowers to appear. One of the earliest plants to bloom where I live are the elm trees. They have very tiny green flowers that appear neat the tips of the highest branches before the leaves come out.
The first trees to bloom in my area are almond trees. They are in bloom right now.

Snowdrops and crocuses are the very first plants to bloom here, followed by daffodils (now) and tulips (coming).

Well, I've been away for a few months and back to woodworking - did several projects for our local Unitarian Fellowship (replacements for the pulpit area) and then decided to work a LOT on my ignored basement workshop - storage, tool replacement, unused tools of Habitat for Humanity, etc. - involved re-introducing myself to my old Woodnet Forum.

BUT - spring has come late to our area and the trees & bushes are now blooming, so some pics below - the 2 dogwoods in our front island (1 old pic labelled) died (probably of 'old age'), so I had our landscape/gardening service design and re-do the island - one addition a few years ago is the now 7+ ft Japanese maple - was a sapling in the backyard (offspring of the large red maple in another pic) - transplanted when about 4 ft high, so seems to have survived and thrived - looking forward to watching the tree grow. Dave :)
