) - but curious if you know the specific type of grape? I suspect an American native varietal, like a Concord (Vitis labrusca) or a hybrid of some type (native vs. American-French hybrid) - thanks for any info. Dave

Well, I'm always curious about grape varietals (probably have had Johanna nuts a few times asking the same question -
) - of course, you could ask the person who owns the grapes (who may not know) or post another pic of the leaf which is usually enough to guess a grape (I have a whole book on exquisite prints of grapes/leaves) - BUT, don't bother - not that important, but in your locale only certain grapes would thrive. Thistles may have nice looking flowers but I wouldn't want to pick them without heavy gloves, they're too well protected with thorns. I like how some plants will continue to flower until killed by the fall weather.
